Crystal Foster
Secretary and Children’s ministry director

Crystal Foster began as children’s ministry director and church secretary at Kennedy Baptist Church in November 2016.   Although Crystal had worked with the children’s ministry for several years, it wasn’t until she was saved at the age of 42 that the Lord put a true calling on her heart.   As the Lord worked through the leadership at KBC, a position was formed that combined the secretary and children’s ministry director, which was a perfect fit for Crystal. “It is amazing to see the Lord work things out before your eyes,” said Crystal.  “The Lord called me to children’s ministry, but He also allowed my secular work experience to fill the need as church secretary.”

Kidstown is the name of the children’s ministry at Kennedy Baptist church for ages birth through sixth grade.  The development of Kidstown is the vision of the KBC children’s ministry team to lay a spiritual foundation and help our children grow in their relationship with Christ.  The Kidstown motto is “Growing God’s Kingdom One Kid at a Time.” The focus verse is Matthew 19:14 ~ But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Crystal married her high school sweetheart, Scott, in 1989. They have two grown children, Erin (Chase) Landrum and Zach (Grace) Foster.  Erin and Chase live in Starkville, Miss., and Zach and Grace live in Steens, Miss.  Crystal and Scott have one grandson, Easton, born in December 2019. Crystal enjoys spending time with her family, reading and going antiquing.

Favorite verse: Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Whitney collins
Music Minister

Whitney Collins has served as the Music Minister at Kennedy Baptist since April 2019. Whitney is a gifted musician and can play a variety of instruments. She enjoys leading worship and enjoys music of all types and styles.

Whitney was born into a very musically inclined family and was raised around southern gospel singings. She was saved at a vacation bible school and began taking piano lessons shortly there after at age 8. Although she did not always love practicing, that is where her love and knowledge of music began to grow.

Although  Whitney was not a member of Kennedy Baptist Church, she had strong ties and friendships to it and within it. Whitney met her husband on a KBC youth retreat that she was invited to and became friends immediately. Little did she know, that she would later marry him and eventually join the church. Chuck and Whitney married in 2010 and decided that Kennedy Baptist would be their home church. They have two children: a daughter, Harper, and a son, Hayes. When they are not working or at church, the Collins family enjoys spending down time at the river or doing almost anything outdoors. In her personal time, you’ll find Whitney spending time crafting or with an instrument in her hand.

Whitney was involved in the music and choir from the time she joined KBC, because she realized that she had been given a gift to use for God’s glory in whatever way that she could. It wasn’t until the end of 2018, that she felt the Lord calling her to step up into more of a leadership role regarding the music. At first, she was very hesitant because although she had been singing and playing an instrument over half her life, she did not feel confident leading a choir or congregation full of people. For a while, she even tried to almost ignore the calling placed on her life, but God kept convicting her and opening doors to make this a reality. After accepting the position as music minister in April 2019, Whitney has seen God work in obvious ways, preparing and equipping her, which has resulted in an overwhelming peace.

Through the years, Kennedy Baptist has had the opportunity to expand in different ways musically. We have the choir, a praise band, special music, and our kids have even been working on current music with different individuals on Wednesday nights. We typically have cantatas for Easter and Christmas, but have also hosted special events through out the year. We play all styles of music to offer everyone a chance to fully worship Him as God has called us to do.

Favorite verse: Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
